Happy Adoption Day

Em had her last gym class of the semester so we brought a cake to share with our friends. She had the chance to show what she's learned over the last 15 weeks. The cutie patootie with her is her friend "Lit-tle Mad" aka Madison. I tried my hand with the camcorder but no idea what I'm doing. Hopefully video clips to follow.

Pics

With all the reminiscing I haven't had a chance to post some pics I took last weekend at the birthday party of one of Em's friends and afterwards at the park.

The Blocks

So many people have emailed me about the blocks. Here is the link to the woman who made them. She has an Etsy store and is lovely to deal with. This was my first experience with her shop but I was beyond pleased with the quality of these for the price in addition to the packaging and delivery. I gifted myself our "forever" to honor our first year together as mother and daughter. I bought a second set of 4 which spell out "Papa" for my father from Emme. Those blocks are black with b/w photos of the 2 of them. The lettering is red to represent his alma mater. Please treat yourself or someone you love. Tell her "Forever" sent you. Etsy

Forever

365 days ago I had been in Beijing a little more than 24 hours. A bottle of wine and a birthday card were left by the nightstand in my hotel room. I was turning 38 and instead of celebrating my years, I was pacing back and forth waiting for my baby to arrive to the hotel lobby via train. 365 days ago I held that frightened, screaming baby in my arms while she wailed for all she was about to lose. I smelled different, I looked different and despite a handful of cheerios she wanted nothing to do with me. Fortunately first impressions don't always count. 365 days later and she wants everything to do with me and I wouldn't have it any other way. We are forever mother and daughter. The pictures above are beautiful wooden blocks hand-crafted with seven photos of Em and I. They serve as a reminder to us that we are indeed a family, forever.

Ode To A Pilferer

Twas a rainy Thursday night; mom-mom was there Emme playing quietly; me in my lair When all of a sudden I heard something funny, it was the clack and the clink of someone with money I went and I looked and what did I see, Emme and a purse and smiling with glee As she shoved money in, her two piggy banks-she looked up at mom-mom and gave her, her thanks
