In a Nutshell....

A handful of folks have asked me where I've been, why I haven't been around much or been my usual "post happy" self. The short answer is I've been sick for the past few weeks and it's been a rocky road. I've been battling migraines and most recently one that's lasted 10 days so far and counting. I was given a few options; one of which was being admitted into the hospital but chose option B so this past Thursday I had some trigger point injections in my neck and head along with some steroids to try and break the cycle. None of the traditional medicines or treatments have worked so far. I don't know the cause of them yet and am still undergoing tests but it's been very painful to say the least. I'm coming off the medicine I've been on but that will take 3 weeks to wean off and in the interim I'm suffering with a constant headache. It's gone from a constant throbbing pain to a dull ache but it's there nonetheless. The doctor I'm working with has been incredibly supportive despite the fact that I've called him so many times, most recently in tears from the pain. I had an MRI yesterday and go for a sleep study and EEG as soon as I get a pre-authorization from the insurance company. So that's it in a nutshell. To those who have asked and those who have wondered where I've been, I appreciate the concern. I'm not someone who gets sick often so it's scary, especially now. Hopefully I'll be able to get this problem rectified soon and be back to my not-so-old self soon.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Every year I buy myself a little something (okay a big something) but this year decided to keep it small. I had been admiring this bracelet from Lenox and decided it would be a perfect token to keep me company during the wait. The symbols are love, wealth, longevity, double happiness and good fortune. Sounds good to me!

Secret Pal Strikes Again!

My secret pal strikes again and boy does she have me figured out already. I received such a beautiful package of gifts including a sterling pendant/chain of the character for year of the dog (my year of birth), a cucumber-melon candle (my favorite scent), an Asian picture frame, a pink brocade album (my favorite color), chopsticks, a satin, pearl adorned box (for the necklace) and a book of poetry for a Chinese daughter. The book is really beautiful and I've already worn the necklace and gotten many compliments on it. Thanks again, secret pal, you rock!!!! Love, Lisa PS. Make sure when snooping, you keep that anonymous posting. I don't want to know who you are yet :-)

More Quilt Squares and Wishes

A few more squares and wishes received yesterday.

Quilt Progress

How awesome are my quilt pieces? All of the ones received so far are from members of my DTC (dossier to China group) group. They have come from all over the US and as far as Canada and Norway so far. Each one is more beautiful than the next and I am so touched by each and every piece. It's hard to capture the beauty of them here but trust me....they're wonderful. You'll notice that on each wish is a small piece of the fabric they sent so that some day we'll be able to match the wish with the piece that will be in the quilt. Pretty cool, huh? I have to get moving on sending out mine. I've bought all the fabrics which was so much fun and now I must get creative with the wishes. Anyone wanting to participate can refer back to my post about how you can contribute to my 100 Good Wishes Quilt for my daughter to be. If you need my address, let me know. Keep em coming!!!! Love, Lisa
